Blackball Shootout

A Blackball shootout is where the Black ball is placed on it’s spot and the white is placed anywhere behind the line. To begin the captain chooses the required number of players from the team (team knockout is 5 players, 3-man knockout is 3). The coin is tossed between the first 2 players and the winner can choose 1st or 2nd. This order won’t change all the way through. Each player has 1 attempt to pot the black ball. Going in-off with the white counts as missing. If the scores are tied after the first number of shots (5 for team knockout, 3 for 3-man), we begin again with player 1 but this time in sudden death.

Team Knockout Rules:

  • All matches, except the Final, are decided when a team reaches 5 frames. There is no obligation to continue playing after a team reaches 5 frames, however if you would like to carry on to make a longer night, you may do so.
  • Before any names have been written on the board, the coin is tossed between the 2 captains. The winner can choose to have their team either break first OR put names up 2nd. Being the Home or Away team is irrelevant for this procedure.
  • The Home team will ref all games as usual.

3-Man Knockout Rules:

  • You may name 4 players for each team. Entry is £1 per person.
  • Each match is 9 frames. This is to be split into 3 sets. Each set consists of 3 frames.
  • In any 1 a player may not play more than once.
  • It is not in the rules that each player has to play every other player. In theory, you could play the same person 3 times.
  • Before any names have been written on the board, the coin is tossed between the 2 captains. The winner can choose to have their team either break first OR put names up 2nd. Being the Home or Away team is irrelevant for this procedure.
  • The team writing names first only need to write the first 3 (the first set). Once all 3 are played, that same team writes their next 3 names and so on.
  • All matches, except the Final, are decided when a team reaches 5 frames. There is no obligation to continue playing after a team reaches 5 frames, however if you would like to carry on to make a longer night, you may do so.
